The dental examination is a diagnostic evaluation of a patient’s overall oral health and wellness.
At Dental Partners of Vero Beach, our practice philosophy is complete dental care for complete health. We are committed to being an important part of your healthcare team. During a first visit, as a new patient, our dental team reserves 90 minutes of their time to be with you. We dive into your dental health history, your medical history, and your sleep patterns. Combining your previous and recent health information and what we assess from your visit with us, we have the best opportunity to provide you with the best all-around care. We provide our patients with a comprehensive dental exam that includes an evaluation of not only your teeth (for cavities), we will examine your gums, perform an analysis of your bite, evaluate your head and neck muscles, and assess the function of the jaw joints, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), airway and more. A hygiene appointment is not scheduled at the time of your first visit. Hygiene visits are ordered and customized based on the doctor's evaluation and your needs. Appointments for hygiene are scheduled after your first appointment.
A Dental Partners of Vero Beach dental appointment includes, but is not limited to:
- Review of the completed Health and Medical History, including a Sleep Risk Assessment. (these documents are completed before being seated in our operatory)
- Diagnostic x-rays may be taken, and a complimentary CBCT 3D Scan of your head, neck, sinuses, nasal passage, airway, and temporomandibular joints (TMJ) is provided.
- A hands-on dental examination, including an assessment of the head, evaluation of the jaw joints, neck, and occlusion (bite) will be conducted.
- Diagnostic procedures will be provided based on dentists’ recommendations.
- An additional consultation to discuss any findings, diagnosed concerns, and a conversation about elective dentistry that may be of interest.
- A treatment plan will be developed, presented, and reviewed with the patient for follow-up dental services.
- Follow-up appointments are made for hygiene services, treatment, and or additional diagnostic services based on the dentist's requests for further analysis.
A Dental Partners of Vero Beach hygiene appointment includes, but is not limited to:
- Your records will be reviewed to verify your last dental exam, results, and recommendations. This also alerts the hygienist to the need for X-rays at the time of your hygiene visit.
- Health history updates will be discussed including any changes in medication since your last appointment.
- During a hygiene appointment, our hygienist will take your blood pressure and oxygen level with a finger pulse oximeter.
- The hygienist will check for signs of decay or periodontal disease
- A comprehensive cleaning will take place
- Removal of stains or debris
- Flossing will be performed
- Hygiene instruction will be given
- Fluoride treatment may be provided
- Based upon your last visit the dentist will come in for a hygiene check.
- The dentist or hygienist may also perform an oral cancer screening.
- Recommendations for routine hygiene appointments will be made and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled before checking out.
